A little mouse finds an apple but it’s too big to fit in her current home so she sets off to find a bigger house. The kids really enjoyed this one today !

Flannel: Five Little Apples
Five little apples lying on the floor,
One rolled away and that left four.
Four little apples hanging on a tree,
I picked one off and now there are three.
Three little apples and I know just what to do!
I put one in my pocket and now there are two.
Two little apples sitting in the sun,
I’ll pick one up and now there is one.
One little apple waiting in my lunch,
I’ll eat it up with a crunch, crunch, crunch!

Book: Little Apple Goat by Caroline Jayne Church

little-apple-goat

A little goat prefers apples, pears and cherries from the orchard to trash and leftovers. After she enjoys her treats she spits the seeds over the bushes. After a big storm blows away the orchard, the farm animals are sad. But that autumn a new orchard grows! How did it get there??

I always have to go back and kind of explain to the kids how Little Apple Goat spitting the seeds over the bushes grew the new orchard but I still love reading it. The illustrations are darling.

Song: Picking Apples (to the tune of Where Is Thumbkin?)
Picking apples, picking apples (pick apples off tree)

Hello, everybody, (wave)
Hello, everybody,
Look at me! Look at me! (point to self)

Stirring applesauce, stirring applesauce, (stir)
Swish, swish, swish; swish, swish, swish.
Stirring all the applesauce, stirring all the applesauce,
In a pot, in a pot.

Eating applesauce, eating applesauce, (pretend to eat)
Yum, yum, yum; yum, yum, yum. (rub tummy)
Eating all the applesauce, (pretend to eat)
Eating all the applesauce,
