mighty mighty construction site

Rhyming book detailing construction site vehicles and the jobs they perform. It’s one of my son’s favorites.

Song: The Construction Worker Song (to the tune of Mulberry Bush)
This is the way we pound the nails,
Pound the nails, pound the nails,
This is the way we pound the nails so early in the morning.

Saw the wood // Stack the bricks // Paint the walls

I realized I had two songs in a row using the tune Mulberry Bush. No one seemed to notice but I’ll try to mix it up a little more next time!

Song/Rhythm Sticks: This is the Way We Tap Our Sticks (to the tune of Mulberry Bush)
This is the way we tap our sticks,
Tap our sticks, tap our sticks,
This is the way we tap our sticks,
So early in the morning.

Scrape our sticks // Hammer our sticks // Tap them soft // Tap them loud // Drum the floor

I have officially given up on using a “real” song for rhythm sticks.

Song/Rhythm Sticks: Tap your Sticks (to the tune of Frere Jacques)
Tap your sticks,
Tap your sticks,
One, two, three,
One, two, three,
Can you tap your sticks?
Can you tap your sticks?
Just like me.
Just like me.

Tap your sticks,
Tap your sticks,
Way up high,
Way up high,
No-w bend down,
No-w bend down,
Tap the ground.
Tap the ground.

I love this book. I was hoping for a gasp or something at the lift-the-flap reveals but they were unimpressed.

It’s time to say goodbye to all our friends, “Goodbye!” (tap knees)
