Book: Boo Hoo Bird by Jeremy Tankard

boo-hoo-bird

Bird gets bonked on the head. Will his friends be able to find any way to make him feel better? My son loves this book. I’ve read it so many times I have it memorized which is very handy for story time!

Song/Flannel: Five Little Ducks
Five little ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said, quack, quack, quack, quack.
And four little ducks came running back.
Three // Two // One // No
*slowly* Sad mother ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away.
Mother Duck said quack, quack, quack, quack …
And all of the ducks came running back!

Song/Rhythm Sticks: This is the Way We Tap Our Sticks (to the tune of Mulberry Bush)
This is the way we tap our sticks,
Tap our sticks, tap our sticks,
This is the way we tap our sticks,
So early in the morning.

Scrape our sticks // Hammer our sticks // Tap them soft // Tap them loud // Drum the floor

Book: “I’m Not Cute!” by Jonathan Allen

im-not-cute-by-allen

Little Owl insists that he is NOT cute despite fox, squirrel and rabbit telling him otherwise. This is the book I read for my interview “audition” for this job. How could I not read it? It got me the dream job!

Song: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

I love the author’s Hooray for Fish. When this book came out last year I knew it was going to be part of a future bird story time. It’s big and colorful and perfect for story time!
