Welcome Song: Clap and Sing Hello (to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell)
We clap and sing hello,
We clap and sing hello,
With our friends at story time,
We clap and sing hello!

We tap and sing hello (tap knees) //
We stretch and sing hello (stretch arms up) //
We wave and sing hello (wave)

Book: Kite Day by Will Hillenbrand

kite day

Bear sniffs the air. It’s finally kite day! But then a big gust of wind takes Bear and Mole’s kite! Where will they find it?

Flannel: Five Umbrellas
Five umbrellas stood by the back door,
The red one went outside and now there are four.
Four umbrellas stood pretty as can be,
The blue one went outside and now there three.
Three umbrellas with nothing to do,
The green one went outside and now there are two.
Two umbrellas stood waiting for the sun,
The yellow one went outside and now there is one.
One pink umbrella stood alone in the hall,
She went outside and that was all!

I have no idea where I found this flannel rhyme! I’ve used it for years …

Song/Scarves: Popcorn Kernels (to the tune of Frere Jacques; sing each line twice)

In the pot. (make scarves ‘disappear’ by bunching them in their fists)

We wave them low, (sing/wave low)
We wave them in the middle,
Because it’s fun to do!

We throw our scarves together,
We throw our scarves together,
We throw our scarves together,
Because it’s fun to do!

We throw them high, (throw/sing high)
We throw them low, (throw/sing low)
We throw them in the middle,
Because it’s fun to do!

Book: Split! Splat! by Amy Gibson; illustrated by Steve Bjorkman

split! splat!.jpg

This book is mostly made up of some fun onomatopoeia. I was excited to read it but I didn’t get a good test. There were a couple kids screaming so loudly I couldn’t even hear myself reading it …
